Heeding the advice of our ancestors as per the above proverb, Duduz Safaris has partnered with the RICHARD ODADA FOUNDATION to be more effective with our efforts to better the lives of youth and women from less privileged communities of Kenya.
Richard is one of the finest footballers Kenya has produced in recent memory. Playing as a midfielder, Richard has worn the colors of some well-renowned teams like RED STAR BELGRADE in SERBIA, PHILADELPHIA UNION in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AAB FODFOLD in DENMARK and is currently signed to DUNDEE UNITED in the UNITED KINGDOM and also represents Kenya's men's National Team, THE HARAMBEE STARS.
Richard was born and raised in Ongata Rongai, a lower middle-class neighborhood in Nairobi, Kenya. His humble upbringing played an integral role in Richard's decision to establish the "RICHARD ODADA FOUNDATION."For this noble cause, Richard and his team elected KIBERA as ground zero for most of it's operations. KIBERA is Africa's largest slum located south-west of Nairobi. A 2.5 square kilometer area packed with over a million people where poverty levels are very high thus driving young men into crime and leaving young women prone to falling into prostitution.
Being such a densely populated area, the infection rates of communicable diseases like tuberculosis and cholera is quite high with HIV/AIDS being a special case on it's own.
The Richard Odada Foundation aims to positively impact 3,000 - 4,000 young people within the next five years by providing computer and financial literacy classes primarily targeting pre-teens and young adults as an effort to empower the young ones get skills that will increase their odds of being gainfully employed.
The foundation also helps young girls gain access to sanitary towels which keeps the girls in class. Most of the girls can cumulatively miss up to a month of the school year because they skip school during their periods since most can't afford sanitary towels, and for the few who can get them never have them throughout all the months of the year.
